ArtWell: Youth Voices on Mental Health and Well-being

Art-Well Focus Group Meetings: Youth Voices on Mental Health and Well-being

As part of the Erasmus+ cooperation partnership Art-Well, the EMINA Foundation is organising three local focus group meetings to gain deeper insight into the challenges and needs of marginalized young people in Hungary. These sessions are an essential part of the project’s research and analysis phase, aiming to shape targeted and meaningful responses to mental health concerns among youth.

Each focus group brings together a diverse group of young people – particularly those facing social, economic, and educational disadvantages – to engage in safe, guided conversations about their daily struggles, emotional well-being, and access to support systems. The discussions explore sensitive yet critical themes such as stress management, isolation, mental health stigmas, and the role of self-expression through art.

These meetings also delve into how artistic practices can support resilience and emotional release, helping us understand which creative approaches resonate most with young people and can serve as effective tools for self-care.

The results from the focus groups will feed into:

  • A national report highlighting the current situation of youth in Hungary.

  • A comparative international analysis across all partner countries (Austria, Czechia, Ukraine).

  • The design of art-based workshops, educational materials, and youth worker trainings developed later in the project.

By creating a space where young people are truly heard, the EMINA Foundation reaffirms its commitment to inclusive youth work, mental health advocacy, and the power of arts for healing and empowerment.
