GREENLINES: Dissemination workshop

On 6th December, EMINA successfully hosted the Greenlines Dissemination Workshop in Hungary. Originally planned as an in-person event, the workshop was adapted to an online format, ensuring broad participation while maintaining an engaging and interactive approach.

The workshop brought together project managers, informal youth groups, and CSO representatives from EMINA’s network. A key highlight was the participation of members of the International Alliance for Cultural Relations, with project managers from across Europe actively engaging in discussions.

Additionally, EMINA presented the best local sustainable practices identified through its research work during the Greenlines project. These included contributions from eco-conscious suppliers, green initiatives, and organisations implementing sustainability in project management. Their insights provided participants with practical, real-world strategies to apply in their own work, demonstrating how sustainability can be integrated effectively at every stage of project planning and implementation.

A core element of the workshop was the Fair of Good Practices, designed to showcase and exchange tested, innovative solutions for making project management more sustainable. Instead of just theoretical discussions, participants explored real, actionable ideas that could be implemented immediately.

As part of the fair, EMINA shared key findings from its research, highlighting local best practices in Hungary that support sustainability in project execution. This included:

✔️ Eco-friendly event planning – strategies to reduce waste, choose sustainable venues, and optimise energy use

✔️ Sustainable procurement – responsible sourcing of materials and minimising unnecessary consumption

✔️ Low-carbon mobility solutions – encouraging alternative transport methods, including shared travel and train options

✔️ Circular economy approaches – examples of repurposing materials and reducing project-related waste

The fair fostered valuable peer learning and knowledge-sharing, inspiring attendees to integrate sustainability into their future projects in a practical and achievable way.

The workshop wasn’t just about listening, it was about participation. We kicked things off with an introduction and expectation-setting, making sure everyone was on the same page. Then, we moved into interactive activities designed to make sustainability feel practical and achievable.

We played “Sustainable Event Management”, a game where participants had to make event-planning decisions with sustainability in mind. We also had discussions on how to organise events in a more environmentally friendly way, covering everything from catering choices to calculating the carbon footprint of an event.

A World Café session gave everyone a chance to share their own challenges and solutions, with a particular focus on how NGOs can realistically implement sustainable practices. The workshop wrapped up with group presentations, where participants shared what they learned and how they plan to apply it in their work.

The workshop was a chance to not just learn, but also connect. Many of the discussions sparked new ideas, collaborations, and motivation to embed sustainability into everyday project management.

For EMINA, this was an opportunity to showcase the research we’ve done throughout the project and support project managers with real tools and solutions. The conversations don’t stop here, we’re excited to see how these ideas take shape in future projects.
